Oh it's been a a chilly slightly overcast day today but I have something
bright and cheery to share with you.
It was my DIL's birthday earlier this week and I wanted a card to lift her spirits and make her smile.  I also wanted to show you how you can blend different coloured ink pads to create other shades as well and 'a mood', if you know what I mean.
With this card I hope I have shown a beautiful early evening night sky as the cheerful hot air balloon rises up into the cloudy shimmer of those beautiful hues of pinks to blues to purples as the night sky slowly lengthens.  By brushing over my blended sponged on inks with Clear Wink of Stella, I achieved the shimmery results I was after. And I have to say Jamielee loved it too!
I've cut out the hot air balloon from the Up & Away die set with the thick Whisper White card stock. after sponging each colour, blending into the next as I went, I use those very handy foam adhesive strips behind it to lift it up off the card front to give the floating in the air look.  I used the larger of the cloud stamps from the Up and Away clear mount stamp set to make my background as well as cut out the layer of clouds too. These cut out clouds hide the join between the lower background of clouds and the upper strip I created of the night sky.  The sentiment was stamped in Marina Mist as well as sponged around the edges before clipping and curving to adhere to the card front.   A couple of lengths of silver cord with a bow and my card was complete.   I have had this stamp set and matching dies for a little while so I am really glad to have well and truely christened it with this weeks creation.

Tip:  When blending inks, start with your lightest to darkest inks as you sponge so you don't end up 'muddying' your sponge daubers with the darker colours.
til next time,
happy stamping, colouring and creating!
